Another round of Pastors have just completed our ReStart Your Heart Program and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results!
This week, we will be sharing the stories of our most 3 success stories. Today’s spotlight athlete is Pastor Brent Watts. This man is one of the most dedicated people we’ve ever met. When he commits to something he does so with 150% heart and effort, no matter how hard the challenge! He crushed his goals over the 8 week period and is now continuing to pursue a lifestyle of wellness. Perhaps our favorite times with him were when we’d see his friendly competitive heart shine with the weekly question:
“What’d Theo get on this workout?“.
As a recap here’s what was covered over the last 2 months of sessions with these Christian leaders and their wives:
- Connection between Faith and Health training
- Assessments
- Goal Setting
- Goal Planning
- Personalized Care Plan
- Nutrition and Wellness Education
- 1 month Meal Plan
- Food tastings
- 75 page Fuel Manual Resource
- Fitness tool for home use, books, and other wellness tools
- Weekly Planning and Accountability
- Physical Training sessions
- Post Care Planning
So without further adieu, it’s a pleasure to introduce today’s spotlight athlete, Pastor Brent Watts!
“Hello, my name is Brent Watts and I am privileged to serve the wonderful people of Abundant Life Church, Matthews, NC. I am the happy husband of Paula, the thankful father of Ashley (and her husband, Dennis) and Alyson, and the proud Poppy to Cohen and Adalyn. My family, friends and faith community are my world.
The gifts of administration and teaching are my strengths. The biggest room in my house is the room for improvement, including balanced growth in body, soul, and spirit. Some say I am passionate in my preaching (my Apple watch usually gives me credit for 30-40 minutes of exercise while I am preaching) but I also enjoy playing golf. One big goal on my bucket list is to preach the gospel on 6 of the 7 continents (I really don’t care to go Antarctica). I am half way there and likely will add one more in 2018.
Over the years, I have tried to stay active and somewhat health conscious, but it’s an uphill battle. Finding time to work out and learning to prepare and choose healthier meals, especially cutting back on sugar, have been difficult for me. MissionFiT took things to a whole new level. Through MissionFiT, I became more aware of my “sugar addiction,” enjoyed more seafood, started taking vitamins, tracking my sleep, and drinking a lot more water. I learned a variety of new movements and will always enjoy squats more than bear crawls. Tracking sleep and consistent exercise leaves me feeling more energized. I’m not so tired at the end of a long day.
I’ve learned both sleep and exercise affect spirituality. Someone once said, many years ago,
“When tiredness walks in, faith walks out.”
It is hard to have proper faith when are not healthy. Unhealthiness robs you of your faith. I’ve seen so many of my pastor friends suffer heart attacks, have open-heart surgery or receive arterial stints to help circulation around the heart. This is my motivation and my wife and my trainer have been my biggest fans during this journey through MissionFiT. I encourage anyone, not just pastors or others experiencing stressful lifestyles, to make the changes needed to be more effective and productive.”
We love you Pastor Brent…and you’re wonderful wife Paula too! Thanks so much for allowing us to serve your family in this way this season. Be blessed!
Isaiah 40:31
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Bonus “Pain Frame” Shot:
Here was one of our favorite shots. What an amazing wife to give a post workout massage after she worked out too! 😉
