Lace up your running shoes and strap on your pack because it’s time for
MissionFiT’s Turkey Trot 5K!
Join MissionFiT athletes in giving thanks by giving back to two local non-profit agencies while completing a (very) local Turkey Trot 5K. The rules are simple and the route is simpler. All you need is a good pair of running shoes, a back pack and a list to check twice.
Who Is MissionFiT Trotting For?
The local organizations partnering with MissionFiT this year are:
“Hope Vibes was founded as a 501c3 organization in 2017 by the husband-and-wife team of Emmanuel and Adrienne Threatt with the goal of bringing awareness, hope and real solutions to the homeless epidemic in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region”. Along with direct assistance to the homeless community, Hope Vibes uses conversations with the homeless and other organizations that serve them. From these conversations come practical innovations like the Hope Tank, Solar Sinks, and even looking to the future with HopeStead Communities.
A Fresh Start CLT “provides addiction and holistic counseling for human trafficking survivors and their children”. A Fresh Start also helps “empower survivors to break the cycle of abuse and addiction to gain freedom”. There are volunteer opportunities to assist behind the scenes including encouraging survivors by meeting physical needs and writing notes. A Fresh Start CLT also takes monetary donations through Amazon Smile & the PayPal Giving Fund.
When Do We Trot?
Friday, November 19, 2021. Meet at MissionFiT’s Headquarters at 7:00am OR 9:15am.
(Remember: MF’s Turkey Trot will replace regular class scheduled for this date!)
Fill your pack with items requested by these organizations. There will be stops along the route where you can drop off the items you collected for both ministries. So, unlike the actual Thanksgiving feast, you start full and finish empty! You will also have an opportunity to learn more about each organization at each stop.
